False Dawn

I named you light in my midnight sky,
knelt to your glow, let defenses die.

I bared my storms to your silent flare,
trusting the warmth that was never there.

Hands full of hope reached into flame—
fire, not rain, answered my name.

You scorched the love I offered whole;
ashes now guard a mending soul.
